Throwing
a party is a great way to
raise money for a good cause
and have fun at the same
time. Your party should
be one that will appeal to
your group of friends, volunteers
and others that you’d
like to invite. It can
be formal, casual or anywhere
in between. The fundraising
party can be held at a home,
restaurant or anywhere where
people would like to gather.
You
can raise money for your
cause at a party by requesting
a small entry fee, charging
for food, raffles and by holding
auctions.
Here are several party fundraiser
ideas...
1. A Trivia
Night Fundraiser is a
fun way to raise money or
awareness for your cause.
The trivia game is played
in teams of two and everyone
answers all of the questions. Winners
are awarded prizes and everyone
has a great time.
2. An
Ice Cream Social can be a
great addition to any existing
event or just a regular meeting
of your group. Set
up tables with 2 or 3 kinds
of ice cream at each table.
Volunteers use small cups to
serve one scoop of ice cream
per person. Place a donation
jar at each table, so people
can leave whatever donation
they would like. You’ll
find that many people will
come back for more than one
scoop and add donations when
they do.
3. Pizza
Parties are a twist on the
usual fundraiser dinner.
This could be a pizza buffet,
set number of slices per person,
or actually sell the pizza “by
the slice.” You
can make this dinner even better
by including desserts. What
makes this dinner fundraiser
great is that since the pizza
is purchased from a pizza restaurant
there’s very little cooking
to do!
4. Theme
parties are great ways to
generate interest and get
people excited about coming. Visit
your local card & party
shop and you’ll find
a wide variety of party themes – fiesta,
sports and a luau are
just a few of the themes that
you can choose from.
5. Costume
parties are not just for
Halloween! There
are many different costume
themes that would be fun for
you and your friends. Here
are a few that you might consider: ‘50’s
rock and roll, Roaring ‘20s
with gangsters and flappers,
famous couples or Disney characters.
Whichever
type of party you choose,
it’s best to
plan it well in advance. Depending
on your circumstances and the
size of the event, start planning
1-6 months ahead of time. Invite
at least 3-4 times the number
of people that you’d
like to see attend and follow
up with people by telephone
as well.
With
a party fundraiser you’ll
have a great chance of making
money for your cause and hosting
an event that people will enjoy
and talk about for years to
come!
